In 1993, François left his position as a piano teacher at a prestigious conservatory to devote himself to viticulture in his hometown of Villebois. After several particularly challenging vintages, he was forced to abandon the project, but thanks to the support and determination of two friends, he took up the vineyards again in 2009, giving new life to the estate under the name Domaine du Perron. With just three hectares of vineyards on steep limestone slopes above the Rhône River, François grows Pinot Noir, Gamay, Mondeuse, Altesse, and Chardonnay.
